Radio Observation of 2004 Quadrantids

Radio Observation of the 2004 Quadrantids

Data Collection and Analysis

For details about our equipment and method of data analysis, see our main page. The 2004 Quadrantid meteor shower was very localized, and above background count rates were observed over a span of only about ten hours. The peak rate we observed was 33 meteors per hour.

Rates for 2004 Quadrantids

The following graph shows the meteor count rates per hour we measured for the 2004 Quadrantids. These rates were determined by a computer program that counted all peaks that climbed at least 20% above the background level in one second. The graph shows the rates observed from midnight EST, December 30, 2003 through 4:00 AM EST on January 6, 2004. The maximum count rate occured between 1:00 AM EST and 2:00 AM EST on January 4, 2004.
